Antares is a partner of projects in the agrifood domain in the Western Balkans. From 2020 to 2024 Antares was a consultancy partner in a mapping exercise of Albanian agrifood value chains, building a capacity building programme to guarantee quality along the post-harvest process and increase the export potential of local products.
Berat Olive Cluster
Building on that work, Antares’ team supports the Berat olive and olive oil cluster within the World Bank CRAD framework, working alongside CRONO Servizi on technical and steering activities. The cluster is built around Berat’s emblematic local variety, the “Grande di Berat” (Madhi i Beratit), and aims to turn a fragmented production base into an organised territorial system able to compete on quality and export markets.
Main lines of work:
- an Integrated Production Protocol shared by the producers of the association;
- a roadmap towards PDO/PGI recognition for Berat olive oil;
- carbon farming positioning in view of Albania’s EU pre-accession path;
- a collective origin mark supporting members’ products on foreign markets;
- annual field production activities with growers, each October.
